Rice University's Sid Richardson Residential College by Barkow Leibinger
The firm’s 148,000-square-foot Sid Richardson residential college, completed earlier this year, is a trio of linked structures (two, five, and 12 stories) that sits alongside the building it was commissioned to replace, a 14-story Brutalist tower designed by the Houston firm Neuhaus & Taylor, which opened in 1971.

UNT in Denton debuts innovative food hall with 7 new restaurants on campus
Eagle Landing represents UNT's first standalone dining hall as well as the largest dining hall on campus with the capacity to seat 700 people. Seating areas provide options for dining, socializing, and studying, including a 24-foot long community table, a quiet zone, seating overlooking the first floor, and a table shaped like the UNT diving eagle symbol.

UNT Celebrates Grand Opening of $25.5 Million Food Hall, Eagle Landing
The University of North Texas on Thursday celebrated the grand opening of Eagle Landing— a two-story, 25,990-square-foot food hall featuring seven eateries serving everything from Asian and Latin American cuisine to baked goods and vegan options. Inspired by Legacy Hall in Plano, the $25.5 million project is UNT’s first standalone dining hall, located at 1416 Maple St. near the UNT Welcome Center.

Robert Bland envisions a future in which a city long known for its sprawl morphs into a more traditional metropolis with a skyline dotted with high-rise residential buildings. “There’s just a lot of regional interest in high-rise residential,” says Rick Birkinshaw of Kirksey Architects, which has worked with Pelican Builders on The Wilshire, The Hawthorne and The Revere. “It’s mostly urban infill, which is where people want to live.”
